Sourcing gold through partnerships from Small-Scale Mines (SSM) in Ghana
The gold mining sector in Ghana has expanded, making it Africa’s top gold producer. However, this growth has led to increasoreod mercury use among small-scale miners due to a lack of modern processing facilities. AMBEX is actively engaging with local authorities, health organizations, and community leaders to address this issue. We’re working to eliminate mercury use by providing access to modern processing facilities, logistics, and tools for up to 159 small-scale mines in our exploration areas. Additionally, we plan to establish third-party processing facilities to service mining communities throughout the country. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility while supporting the local workforce, which currently consists of over 5,000 individuals producing approximately 1,000 tons of ore per day. Through partnerships with small-scale mining groups, we’re increasing production capacity, improving workforce conditions, and promoting environmental sustainability. Our goal is to foster a socially responsible approach to mining that benefits both our company and the local community, ensuring compliance with Ghana’s mining laws and environmental standards.
Small Scale Production Partnerships
Our company plans to provide essential resources to small-scale mining operations, including hand-powered extraction equipment, water pumps, tools, and ore transportation to processing plants. By doing so, we aim to reduce the sales lag experienced by the community due to the lack of modern processing infrastructure. This initiative will notably boost the earnings of our local small-scale mining partners, eliminate the significant time wasted on manual ore processing (which currently accounts for 70% of their time), and enable them to concentrate on higher-volume output. Through our cooperative partnership, faster sales payments will be made available, enhancing the efficiency and profitability of their operations.
Purchased ore to be processed. Will begin in month 7 at 100tpd (619 oz per month) growing to 200tpd (128 oz per month) in 7 months
